Retained Consultant 2002 - 2018
Tony G Cotsworth had been a retained consultant surveyor at Plato Estates Ltd for 16 years. He died after a short battle with cancer on 28 November 2018 at the age of 78.
Tony had held director level appointments in the commercial property development and corporate property sectors for over thirty five years, and had wide ranging experience of the development and investment process from project inception to completion and occupation, and an understanding of the corporate occupiers concerns and needs.
Prior to being retained at Plato Estates in late 2002, he was Head of Property and Facilities at Daewoo Cars Limited, (advertised as “The largest car company in the world yu have never heard of!”). Tony was largely responsible for Daewoo’s rapid appearance in the UK and was responsible for acquiring, developing, fitting out, and managing the Company's property portfolio (circa 900,000 sq. ft.) of Motor Shows, Car Centres, vehicle workshops, the mini showrooms within Halfords and Sainsbury Savacentres, as well as their parts warehouse in Northampton, head office in Rickmansworth and vehicle import centre at Portbury near Bristol.
Prior to Daewoo he held various positions with property developers including Finlinson Group (Commercial Director), Leigh Developments Limited (Managing Director), English Property Corporation, and Hammerson.
Married with six children and two grandchildren, Tony, had a degree in Estate Management from London University and was a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Tony was retained as consultant to Plato Estates Ltd, and although working as a self-employed consultant with various other clients associated with the motor retail and other commercial property sectors, he provided valuable advice to Plato Estates over 16 years on numerous projects.
